The Beginning of my Lyme

There isn't a full proof test for Lyme Disease.  You have to test positive on two out of three tests.  These three tests are far from comprehensive, which results in a large amount of people testing negative although they have Lyme Disease.  There is a more expensive test ($100) that tests more than three strains - not usually covered by insurance.

I was very fortunate to test positive early.  My initial symptoms included the following:
Headache
Vomitting
Nausea
Joint Pain (fingers, toes, knees)
Muscle Pain
**Exhaustion**
Numbness in my face
Blurred vision
Lightheaded
Dizziness
Loss of appetite

My doctor at the time was an internist and put me on 2 weeks of Doxycylin, which is the Lyme protocol according to CDC.  I thought I was better after that; however, 6 months later all of the above symptoms returned....with a vengeance and the bonus of memory loss.

I did research and determined that despite the cost I was going to see a Lyme Literate Doctor.  I am very happy with my doctor and thus far and very happy I didn't go to a mainstream doctor who may not take Lyme seriously.
